Get in
Traveling by airplane is preferred for who start from Hanoi. It takes about 2 hours from Hanoi to Can Tho.
If you go from Ho Chi Minh City, you can travel by coach or bus which serves 24/24 per day. It takes 3-4 hours from HCMC to Can Tho. Motorbike is also a good choice because of short distance between the 2 places.
If you start from Cai Be, Tien Giang, you can choose waterway as the ideal means of transport. There are a lot of inter-province boats from these places to Can Tho.

Accommodation is the last thing you have to worry about when visiting Can Tho. Can Tho is one of the 5 biggest cities in the whole country. Therefore, hotels, motels or restaurants are numerous and good quality. Especially, the price is very reasonable.
What to see – what to do
Cai Rang Floating Market
Cai Rang floating market is one among three biggest ones in Can Tho. It opens all day but busiest from the sunrise to 9:00AM. In the river area of about 1km length, there are hundred boats and canoes gathering together, selling and buying diversified products, from local agricultural products such as fruits, vegetables, meats, seafood to other services such as foods, coffee, drinks,… Visiting this special market, you can get to know the amazing cultural aspects of southerners.
The best time to visit Cai Rang is from 6 AM to 8 AM every morning, except for Tet Holiday and Doan Ngo Festival (5th in the fifth months of Lunar Calendar). From city centre, you can take motorbike taxi or taxi to Cai Rang wharf, then take a boat to visit the floating market.
My Khanh ecotourism village
Built in 1996 in a nice position between Cai Rang and Phong Dien floating market, My Khanh is an ecological complex, containing various services and green space. You can enjoy the beauty of Southern countryside with water, green mangrove forests and peaceful surrounding. There are many interesting services in here that you can join such as fishing, rowing, exploring the life of ancient landlords and farmers or joining traditional games. You also have chance to enjoy special ancient foods of the South.
Bang Lang Stork Sanctuary
Located in Thoi Thuan Ward, Thot Not District, Bang Lang is one of the most well-known stork sanctuaries in the South. There are thousands of storks netting in the garden, including 11 different kinds of flork such as fly stork, egret, heron, pelican, woodpecker, etc. visiting Bang Lang Stork Sanctuary, you can have chance to see the view of birds returning home in late afternoon after a whole day of seeking foods in other places. Watching thousands of storks flying around and gather in the garden is very exotic scenery.
Phu Sa ecotourism site
Located in Au Island on Hau River, Phu Sa Ecotourism site is built with the best features of Mekong Delta area. It takes only 10 minutes from Ninh Kieu Pier by boat. Visiting here, you will see the immense area of sonneratia forest, idyllic fishing village with charming scenes and natural attractions of the wetland. Moreover, there are a lot of interesting activities including driving jet ski, canoe, surfing, crocodile hunting, folk games or join Don Ca Tai Tu performances – the very famous traditional music of the South.
Ninh Kieu Pier
It is a popular destination in Can Tho with a very long history. It is nowadays rebuilt and developed as a park and a symbol of Can Tho’s culture and tourism. It is attracted by picturesque scenery of river and the bank. You can walk along this pier when the night falls down to see the most beautiful moment of it.
What to eat
Can Tho is famous for a lot of local cakes such as xeo cake, khot cake, can cake, cam cake, quai vac cake, etc.
You can try special hot pot made from local specialities such as duck, sonneratia or species of fish. Fishery products are also preferable.
