Charming Northwest region in the “golden season”

And there is a time in here that people call “golden season” when the paddy terrace fields turn to yellow because the rice is in harvest time. Visiting the Northwest in this time is a precious experience in your life.
The local farmers just grow one crop per year. Therefore, the harvest time is between the middle of September and the end of October. And each province has different time of harvest such as the earliest is Sa Pa, Quan Ba or the latest must be Mu Cang Chai. Together with nice and cool weather, the very stunning and breathtaking scenery will blow your mind away.
Even though you have already known what you would see, you must be incredibly surprise when you see the amazing scene with your eyes. The immense terrace fields in mountainous area are covered by a fantastic bright yellow, looking like someone inlay gold on the ladder to haven. Thousands of endless golden waves stretch from valleys, through mountain sides to the high peak. The colors vary from green, pale yellow, sunshine yellow to brown golden. Standing from the top of the mountain and looking down to terraces, you can view the whole amazing scene of yellow “ocean” and scattered stilt houses of ethnic minorities as well as feel the spectacular beauty of nature.
Especially, trekking to the Northwest area in this time of year is perfect. Walking through splendid golden terrace fields, breathing the great smell of ripen rice and exploring the way local ethnic people harvest rice are interesting experiences.
Ideal places to admire harvest season in the Northwest are Sapa (Lao Cai), Moc Chau (Son La Province), Mu Cang Chai (Yen Bai), Hoang Su Phi (Ha Giang).
