Con Dao National Park is on the way of preparation for being a Ramsar Site
Under BlogCon Dao National Park is on the way of preparation for being a Ramsar Site – In 11th September, Ba Ria-Vung Tau People’s Committee decided the time to hold the celebration of recognizing Con Dao National Park as a Ramser Site (the Convention on Wetland of International Importance). It will be happened in 1st October 2014 at Cultural-Sport center of Con Dao District.
Beside the celebration, the whole program will have a lot of other activities, including visiting Hoang Duong cemetery, visiting Con Dao National Park, relieving baby turtles to the sea, propagating to raise the awareness about Ramser Convention and its benefits for the local community, etc in the aim of promoting Con Dao tourism, attracting tourists and researchers as well as boosting the involving of the locals in managing, preserving and developing Con Dao National Park.
Con Dao National Park has 14,000 ha of wetland, including 2,113 ha of near seashore area with a very diversified ecosystem in both land, wetland and ocean.
In the beginning of 2014, Con Dao National Park is recognized as one of 2203 Ramsar Sites (Wetland of international importance) and became the 6th Ramsar site in Vietnam. The amazing island of Con Dao is also a very rich and unique biodiversity with the combination of 4 ecosystems.
