Mai Anh Dao is Vietnamese name of a one-of-a-kind flower in Da Lat which blooms in the first months of the year to welcome spring. It has been a proud symbol of local people.

Mai Anh Dao has Latin name of Prunus Cesacoides – a special cherry blossom tree. Its trunk is like peach, but its flower has 5 pental like mickey’s mouse flower. That’s why people called it Mai Anh Dao. Because Da Lat is only place in Vietnam has this plant, a lot of people think it is local plant. No matter its origin, Mai Anh Dao has become the symbol of spring in poetic Da Lat City.

Mai Anh Dao is in blossom at the middle of January, when spring comes. Lovely pink flowers cover the whole tall tree, creating very beautiful scene.

Mai Anh Dao bloom exotically at every corner of the city, especially at Le Dai Hanh Street, Xuan Huong Lake surroundings, Tra Hung Dao, Hai Ba Trung Street. Especially, Tran Quoc Toan Park with 200 new-plant trees will be an awesome place to see Mai Anh Dao in the near future.

Mai Anh Dao only flower during about one month. The flower’s petals will quickly fall down. That’s’ why you need to visit Da Lat in January if you want to see Mai Anh Dao.
