Dark Tourism is a new traveling trend around the world. It is defined for historical sites with consternated events related to death or tragedy. Visiting these destinations, you will not have a “good” time for relaxing or enjoying. In contrast, you have to experience terrible things and catastrophic disasters happened in the past. With some people, traveling is not about relaxing on the sunny beaches or luxury resorts; it is about exploring and understanding the world, the universe and human history. That’s why Dark Tourism is very popular recently.

My Lai Hamlet become one of the top Dark Tourism Sites in the world

Among top famous dark tourism sites in the world ranked by Telegraph, My Lai Hamlet of Vietnam is in the list.

My Lai Hamlet is place where My Lai Massacre happened in 16th March 1968 during Vietnam War. The hamlet is located in Son My Village, Son Tinh District, QuangNgai Province. A lot of American Army Units killed the whole hamlet, including men, women, elders, children and infants. They were not armed and most of them were civilians. And a lot of women were gang-raped and brutally killed. This is one of the most savage and inhumane events of US army in Vietnam War.

My Lai Hamlet now becomes a memorial place where you can have a clear picture about this massacre. It includes museum of pictures and statues, collective graves of killed people, ancient house and memorial house.
