Quan Lan Island: the most pristine beauty in the North

Quan Lan is a pretty large island, located in Van Don Island District, in Bai Tu Long Bay, about 45km to the Northeast of Ha Long Bay.
Get in
To get in Quan Lan, you have to go to Van Don Port. It is quite easy to go from Hanoi or Ha Long to Van Don by coach, bus or motorbike. From Van Don, you will take high-speed boat or ferry to Quan Lan Island. The high-speed boat takes 45 minutes and the ferry takes 2 hours.
When you land to the island, you should hire motorbike or bike to go around. Another way is taking tuk tuk – a pretty cheap and comfortable means of transport on the island.
Accommodation
Don’t worry about where to stay. There are a lot of high-quality hotels, motels and even resorts on the island. The services are very nice and convenient and the price is incredibly reasonable.
Destination
Quan Lan has series of stunning beaches. The must-come beach is Minh Chau, featured by beautiful curved shoreline and extremely blue water. Minh Chau means “white sand”, and as its name, the beach has super purely white sand stretch. Minh Chau is situated in separated position, so it is the most quiet and peaceful beach on the island. Come to Minh Chau beach, you will live in a haven of fine white sand reflecting the clear deep blue water and sunny cloudless sky. From Minh Chau beach, you can visit Minh Chau Port – where you can see many boats and also the best view to see sunrise.
Other beaches include Son Hao Beach with pristine surroundings and very clean pure water; Quan Lan Beach with favorable position near the pier and luxuries resorts.
You can visit the most impressive architecture on the island: Quan Lan Temple. It was built in Le Dynasty in 18th century to honor the victory of Quan Lan’s army under the command of General Tran Khanh Du against Mongol invaders. The temple is featured with very wonderful design with beautiful carve patterns.
You also can visit Quan Lan Communal Temple and some other ancient temples having historical stories.
The island has a lot of fishing villages, so you can visit some and go fishing with local fishermen.
