He was afraid that Vietnam tourism will face to a lot of difficulties and risks in the future. He also assured that Vietnam tourism administration is making plans to manage the risks and avoid bad effects.
Under the tensions in sovereignty dispute on Hoang Sa Island when China continues to use water cannon in the Vietnamese oil rig area, causing damages to Vietnamese vessels and hurting crew members as well as setting up oil rig in Vietnam territory, many Vietnamese citizens canceled their tour to China to oppose China’s actions. According to a lot of travel agents, the amount of tourists booking a tour to China has incredibly decreased.
Moreover, the tourists who had planned to travel to China before also delayed the tour because of political instability. Another reason they gave is to show their love and loyalty to their homeland.
Meanwhile, in Vietnam, some restaurants and hotels refused providing services for Chinese tourists. Some restaurants show their protest by hanging a sign board: “Not serving Chinese tourists unless your government takes away HD 982 oil rig out of South China Sea”.
