Sharp decrease in stamping fees for Vietnam visa on arrival since 23rd November
After the 15 days visa-free proposal by Vietnam Tourism Association in July for five European countries (Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the UK), a new circular 157/2015/TT-BTC has been recently issued setting up the regime of collection, remittance and use management of fee for issuance of passports, visas and papers sheet on entry, exit, transit and residence in Vietnam
Accordingly, the visa stamping fee for foreigners and Vietnam people residing abroad will have a dramatic decrease starting in 23rd November. The stamping fee will be cut down from US$45 to US$25 for a single entry visa, and from US$95 down to US$50 for a multiple entry visa valid up to 3 months. Foreigners will still have to pay $95 for the multi-entry visa with validity between three and six months, and $135 for between six months and a year.
Visa stamping fee is paid in cash upon arrival. Fees stated in USD may be collected in USD or in VND at the average inter-bank foreign exchange rate announced by the State Bank of Vietnam at the time the fee is collected.
Adding to the good news of Vietnam visa cost, tourists who visit Laos and Cambodia after touring Vietnam but return home via Vietnam will only be charged $5 instead of $45 currently for visa stamping fee.
These visa fee adjustments are regarded as a positive move to boost Vietnam tourism after 13 consecutive months of getting a decline in international arrivals from May 2014.
