Dran Town is a small town located on the foot of Dran Pass, on the way to well-known Da Lat City. Dran is situated in Dong Duong District, Lam Dong Province, about 40km from Da Lat. This very small town is a special stop before you come to Da Lat City. It has stunning beauty of a peaceful and tiny town, breathtaking landscapes and wonderful weather condition.

To get to Dran Town, you have to go through Ngoan Muc Valley and Dran Pass, which is real challenge for adventurous lovers. The pass is not long, but meandering and sinuous, with rocky mountain on a side and chasm on the other. Because of its danger, the pass is quite deserted. Therefore, it still remains pristine beauty of an immense and poetic and untouched highland, featured by imposing natural sceneries, stunning pine forests and colorful wild flowers on the roadsides. Especially, if you travel in the morning, you will see the mysterious attraction of the pass with vague mist. It is like you can touch white cloud with your fingers.

Dran Town is situated among sloping hills, old pine forests and small babbled streams. Lovely town with lovely local people always welcome you. There are only a few hotels and motels in the town, so you can stay at local people’s house. The houses in this town are mostly made from pine wood, surrounded by flower and fruit gardens and tea hills. The weather in here is awesome with little cold, cloudy in the morning and very cool in the afternoon. It seems like you live four seasons of year in one day.

Unlike Da Lat, Dran Town doesn’t have too many species of flowers, but it has a very special one which makes the town more and more attractive – wild sunflower. Wild sunflowers (or Tithonia diversifolia) open in dry season, between September and October. They are everywhere in the town, from pine tree hills to roadsides, from small gardens to large fields. The whole town is covered up with a bright yellow of this wild flower.

Dran Pass and basalt roads in October are filled with yellow wild sunflowers, and among them, there is a road which is considered as the most beautiful road in Vietnam, with full of stunning wild flowers on the roadsides. There are also valleys, pine tree forests and hills dressed up a sunny yellow of this flower. There is no word to describe the beauty of the town and the highland in blossoming season of wild sunflower.
