Tra Vinh is a southern province located in Mekong Delta region. Tra Vinh is not a top name in toursm map in Vietnam, but the province has a lot of unique attractions of a wetland and especially home of Khmer people.

Visiting Tra Vinh, you will have chance to see the stunning beauty of more than 140 temples of Khmer community, along with 50 temples of Kinh people and 5 temples of Hoa people. Among that, Ang temple, Hang temple, and Co temple are the most famous ones.

Hang temple is located in Chau Thanh Town, Chau Thanh District, about 5km to the south of Tra Vinh City.

As an old Khmer temple, it is the one of the most beautiful temples in Tra Vinh with the total area of 10 hectares and be covered by many big old trees. A half of Hang temple’s area is natural tree jungle, featured with tall and big trees. Therefore, there are various species of birds gathering in the temple.

Hang temple has the most highlighted and remarkable features of Khmer temple architecture. The main gate look toward the river bank, with two statues of huge Yak (a kind of ogre which be converted by the monks) on two sides of it to protect the temple. The sub-gate has a dome of 12 meters long and a very thick wall. The architecture inside the temple is very outstanding, with splendid and exquisite decoration as well a tall and imposing hall. The roof is made by a lot of layers folded together and a tall sharp top.

Hang temple plays a very important role in Khmer local community in educating ethics and reserving traditions.

Ang temple is located about 7km from center of Tra Vinh Town, in an old forest of Ba Om pond. It is one of the oldest temples in Khmer temple system in Tra Vinh, along with a distinctive architecture and amazing beauty of nature.

The gate is decorated with a lot of statues of ogres, fairies, bird gods,… The temple has a deep ditch and a tower of 5 tops. The largest room is the hall where a lot of artworks are put. A lot of tall and big pillars in the hall are carved by various patterns and objects. Inside the hall is a prayer room with a Buddhism statue of 2.1 meters tall and 50 smaller ones made by rock or wood.

The temple was named Stork because it is home of thousands storks. The original name of it is Giong Lon temple or Nodol in Khmer language.

Co temple is the largest one in Tra Vinh, with the most featured architecture of Khmer style, including gate, hall, tower and other houses. Especially, the hall has dragon-tale-shaped roofs, tall and sharp top and unique statues of Khmer’s gods.

This is the most well-known beach in Tra Vinh province, located in Duyen Hai District, about 55km from Tra Vinh Town. The beach is quite pristine and natural with smooth sand stretch, pure and clean water, fresh air and quiet atmosphere.

Ba Dong has a lot of undulating sand dunes, casuarina-tree lines and colorful shells lying on the beach. You can swim in clean water; admire the beauty of sunset and sunrise on the beach or lying on hammocks in the casuarinas forest to listen to beautiful sounds of nature.

Especially, Ba Dong beach is being invested a lot to become an attractive tourist site with modern resorts, restaurants, amusement parks and hotels.
