Vietnam visa on arrival procedure at Vietnam airport
If you apply Vietnam visa on arrival, you have to go through the steps of getting visa stamped at Vietnam international airports. Arrival Document Checklist:
- Your passport (must have at least 6 months validity)
- 2 passport-sized photos
- Visa approval letter

General procedure at the airports
After landing, you need to go to Immigration Counter at the arrival airport to get visa stamped. When you get there, you have to hand over your passport, photos, visa approval letter, copy of Entry and Exit form (be mentioned above) to the Immigration officers. Normally, you have to wait in some minutes or even longer, depending on the number of people processed. Your name will be called when your visa is ready. And then you have to pay the processing visa fee (stamping fee) by cash, they will give you a receipt and return your passport and get your visa stamp.
Specific procedure at each airport
There are three international airport in Vietnam, including Tan Son Nhat international airport (Ho Chi Minh City), Noi Bai international airport (Hanoi) and Da Nang international airport (Da Nang city). Each of them locates visa on arrival counter in a different position.
Tan San Nhat international airport in Ho Chi Minh City: When you enter the Immigration hall, the VOA situated in your left hand side, at the far end. The Immigration Counter is named “Landing Visa”. When you reach the Landing Visa, you must handle your passport, one copy of Entry and Exit form, the visa approval letter, one passport size photo. Then you should go back and sit down. Waiting in some minutes, your name will be called when your visa is already completed. After you visa is already done, you have to pay the stamp fee and get visa stick on your passport. You should check the newly issued visa for any errors while still at the window. You then go to the immigration control posts to be processed in the normal way. Baggage reclaim and Customs are downstairs.
Noi Bai international airport in Hanoi: the location for Vietnam visa counter here differs slightly. The VOA office is situated to the left of the escalator that takes you down to the immigration hall. Hand in your passport and VOA approval letter at the counter, and pick up an Application for Entry and Exit Form if you haven’t downloaded and completed one beforehand. If necessary, there are desks where you can fill in the form. Then walk along the right-hand side of the office to the counter at the opposite end and wait for your name to be called. Because foreign names can be difficult for the immigration officers to pronounce, they usually hold up the passport with the bearer’s photo facing outwards. The process is as similar as it in Tan Son Nhat airport
Da Nang international airport in Da Nang City: You get into the Immigration hall, then find Vietnam visa on arrival window which is very easy to find. The process is usually quick (approximately 15 minutes). After receiving your passport with visa, everyone needs to queue up together in long line before Immigration Control. There is no segregation between Vietnamese people and other nationalities.
Stamping fees
- 45$ for one month or three month single entry visa
- 65$ for less than one month multiple entry visa
- 95$ for three month multiple entry visa
